Assessees may surrender Rs 1.20 crore, post I-T search and survey

The assesses, including the city-based financier Sharad Doshi and his nine partners, are likely to surrender a sum a mounting to Rs 1.20 crore here before the sleuths of the income tax department here on Tuesday. The I-T authorities believe that the evasion amount may cross the mark of Rs 80 crore.

INDORE: The assesses, including the city-based financier Sharad Doshi and his nine partners, are likely to surrender a sum a mounting to Rs 1.20 crore here before the sleuths of the income tax department here on Tuesday. The I-T authorities believe that the evasion amount may cross the mark of Rs 80 crore.
The number of premises being searched upon has increased to 38 from the earlier existing mark of 21.

Congress leader Sghharad Shukla is also doing the rounds as it is being suspected by the probing agency that he might have a role in the deals like Malwa Vanaspatia nd Shiv Kothi, which was striken by Doshi.
Doshi is also reported to have invested remarkable sum of amount in properties around Bhopal. Director (Investigation), KC Kumharia, has been camping here since Saturday to discuss this aspect with the investigating officials.
Some 28 lockers have already been recovered by the probing officials on the very first day of search itself, added the sources. The lockers are likely to be opened within a day or two.
Doshi’s style of functioning was unique. He never advertised about his ventures. Rather, he relied heavily on mouth publicity alone. After havi9ng purchased MG Road-based prime property, Shiv Kothi, he converted it to a new Shubham Complex in his bid to develop the premises as New Sarafa, in parallel to the already existing sarafa Market near Rajwada. Madanla l& Chhaganlal Jewelelrs, whose premises are also being probed by the sleuths is having its retail outlet in this complex.
